How I Found the Mentor I Didn’t Even Know I Wanted or Needed

July 7, 2020

< back to blog

Let me tell you a story… of a gal who found herself even more lost than she could have ever felt. Betrayed by some people she put a lot of trust into, a mentor who turned out to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing she had to retain legal representation about her intellectual property as well as slandered reputation, feeling like she hadn’t a friend or ally anywhere. She still had her network marketing business, sure, but she hadn’t been active in about a year so felt a lot of guilt and embarrassment coming back, trying to “plug back in”, but struggled with some serious limiting beliefs. “Who am I to think I can do this?” “Who is going to want to work with me?” “I am a terrible leader”, “I have no friends and I have no value” “ I am failing my son” – dark shit right?!

This went on for sometime while she tried, or thought she was trying to grow her business, but you see she was doing the motions, saying the right things, buying all the courses that anyone put out, but wasn’t taking ACTION. Wasn’t reaching out, wasn’t being active on social media. Was AFRAID. Afraid of judgment from family and what friends she had left, judgment from strangers, from her team and those in her company. Who the hell did she think she was trying to play in the big pond with the cool kids?!

After a few DARK months of some serious depression – PS don’t ever be ashamed of mental illness and if you are having feelings of harming yourself call 911 immediately, please – and health also deteriorating to a point of clinical malnutrition and anorexia. After these few dark months of not knowing where to turn or go, she had a surgery, was to be a simple surgery with a 3 week recovery, turned into a 9 month and counting recovery due to some serious complications, so this had her businesses taking even more hits as she wasn’t able to work as much as she wanted, wasn’t able to parent like she wanted, wasn’t living ANY quality of life.

During this deep and dark, almost feeling like life was never going to get better, what can only be described as an angel in human form appeared. She had worked with mentors and coaches before, but this one was different. She had the AUDACITY to say I mattered. To say the world needed my gifts. That I even HAD gifts. (OH, did you think we weren’t talking about me here??)

She taught me that in order to TRULY have the business I want I needed to look within. I already had everything I needed to be successful, I just needed to tap into it, and she was the guide to show me how to do it. You can too. You have all the success and skills and vision and mission already inside you, you just need that nudge to tap into it. When you start to actually believe you can make a difference, you can make that impact others told you that you wouldn’t, you can have all the success in the world, you just need to ask and tap into your own divine power, MIND BLOWN. Who the shit knew it was that easy? It gets to be easy! It gets to be fun! It gets better the better it gets! Why did you go into business? To be miserable, working 18 hour days, never seeing your family, going on those trips, seeing the inside of your gym you pay for every month. COME ON! WAKE UP. Hey, I needed a slap in the face and a kick in the ass, in the most loving way, and she did that for me. I have been working with her for over a year now, and sure she is my mentor, but she is my friend. THAT is a mentor. THAT is a coach. Someone who will call you on your shit but coming from a pure and total place of love. That is what she has taught me and how I now work with my clients, which is how I have been deemed the ninja coach LOL.

Legit, here’s the thing, no matter how dark things seem and how much you think you have failed, you WILL get back up…if you want to. The only person keeping you down is you. Look at all the shit, all the failings, all the mistakes, as BLESSINGS because they will often be the biggest, most profound, and life/business changing lessons you will ever learn. I am sure you’ve heard this before, failing forward, damn right. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t. It’s the people that use that as fuel to rocket blast into success DESPITE how much life shits on you.

Don’t give up, sometimes it may not feel like it but there are people who care and want to help you succeed beyond what you can even imagine right now. Hell, hit reply and I’ll be your cheerleader. Now, get up, brush yourself off, decide WTF you want and go get it.
